Couldn’t sleep last night because there was a schizophrenic woman having a mental health emergency/acute psychosis for a few hours outside of my apartment window a few metres down. Non-emergency wouldn’t show up for her… I understand the affliction well enough but her pained wails, growling and murmuring was still disturbing enough to keep me awake unfortunately.

I’ve been feeling a bit out of it lately. I’ve been completely burned out from the gym despite not going as often as I should. I’ve worked out...

I beat dragons dogma II last month (not 100% complete yet!) and wanted to talk about it a little + some art related stuff

I honestly didn’t know anything about the game at all, but at a book-off near my home in Hibarigaoka I had found Jun Suemi’s artbook “198511-199806 Gen art” and I was instantly in love. He’s grown as one of my most favourite artists ever. His compositions, colours and brush strokes capture an era of pop culture that I hope to capture myself one day. Through this book (and...

Here’s a Mitsume-kozō I painted for a yokai art exhibit for the San Diego Japanese friendship gardens and museum.

It’s available for viewing at the Inamori Pavilion- and it’ll also be shown during their Yokai parade on Halloween/Oct 31st.

Check it out on my Instagram HERE<—

I have a package coming with the worst company on the planet… so I’ve got to hold off on work and the gym to make sure I can personally greet them at the door. (Otherwise they won’t make an effort to deliver it).

While I wait I just wanted to post about Masaaki Nakayama.

As a teenager I found myself scrounging for every little piece of Japanese horror I could find after being introduced to ju-on here in Canada. Gyo and Uzumaki by Junji Ito had only been translated by fans online...

Internet horror

I just finished the novel “there is no antimemetics division”, a horror sci-fi written by a fellow with the username QNTM, who writes short form stories including some of the “SCP” files online.

  • So I have to ask cyberspace, what is your favourite horror media online specifically? Please share.

It had a lot of the hallmarks of internet “creepypastas” (a moniker I don’t really like using, lol). It had some fun imagery and ideas but the very end of the book was pretty over-the-top and...

Does anyone here use procreate?

I can’t see myself owning an iPad at the moment, but to those that do- how would you compare it to other art programs?

I believe they’ve acknowledged work on a desktop version. I’d be interested in testing it on windows. Some of their brush textures are extremely realistic.

I’d love to hear all of your thoughts and criticisms.

Does anyone know or read heavy metal magazine?

It feels like it’s going through some kind of renaissance right now. The stories, covers and art features are all very provocative and thoughtful. If you ever wanted to jump into something new, now is definitely the moment.

There was a time in the past not super long ago when it felt like every cover was just some random painted woman for sex appeal. I never looked through the books because it felt so uncreative and lame at face value. I likely...

Two questions for cyberspace:

1.what’s your favourite novel?

2.Does anyone here use goodreads?

I like to keep track of everything I’ve read but I get so embarrassed reading my own reviews later… so I just rate them out of five now. Maybe I’ll write critiques on novels here because it feels more casual. (×_×;)

I got a rendezook in battlefield 6 tonight. I don’t know if anyone knows what that is, but it was insanely difficult and took so many tries.

Ironically, I found the game really interesting because of how grounded it felt compared to call of duty (which I never really got into). I had always wanted to play a more realistic, modern military game and it definitely scratches that itch. i usually spend my time playing either attack jet or on the ground as support. I’ve noticed the game has some glaring...

I wanted to talk about magic the gathering a little, are there any collectors or players here? What is your favourite card?

My earliest memory was seeing the art of an orgg and the card “primeval shambler” in a magazine. Not too long ago I actually found the shambler in a bulk bin and keep him in my wallet. The magazine must’ve been Beckett when they still did Pokemon or yugioh… My favourite mtg artist is probably Wayne reynolds, but I also really love Ian Miller, Jesper Esjing and mark riddick...

Cyberspace, who is your favourite Pokémon ?

Mine has been aerodactyl since the anime and gameboy game first came to North America. He’s quite sentimental to me!

I’d love to hear your stories and thoughts.

photo of the river valley from yesterday.

The way the apartments shoot up from behind the forest always feels so surreal and dreamlike

Today’s a day I feel really content in my city.

I started off the night by doing a trip to the used book store a few blocks away. I found a copy of aliens:tribes, which I recommend to anyone who’s interested in sci-fi military/90’s traditional pop-culture art (or of course, the aliens themselves). The art is incredible. Sadly since dark horse was purchased by marvel (and later by extension Disney) a lot of the atmosphere (which is critical to the monsters themselves) was lost in favour of spectacle and...

It’s been a long while since I’ve posted. Been facing a bit of burnout. I caught the tail-end of an art opportunity and got it done in time thankfully, but I really messed up my sleep and diet doing so. I’m actually on the steps of the gym right now because I was caught in the rain in my gym clothes before I could get inside, so I’m drying off and might have to head back home to not be disrespectful. ( – ⤙ – )

I have a new opportunity with submissions due at the end of this month as well (on the topic...

The odyssey + obsession thoughts (and spoilers)

Haven’t had a chance to read or post on cyberspace for a while. I’ve also bought a novel i mean to read soon, but It’s cram time with art for a few days, so I’ve gotta take that really seriously.

Finally caught obsession without a bad crowd and didn’t walk out this time! I really appreciated the actors in this one. For such a small film I’m surprised it didn’t feel like one of those standard “jumpscare” movies. The movements and sounds of Nicki...

Made it to the air and military show and got really sunburned, but it was genuinely so worth it.

I took a few photos for people interested in military or vehicles.

The highlights for me were the f-22 raptor, the f-18 super hornet and a flying WWII P38-Lightning… plus there were static spitfire and Douglas a-4 skyhawk jets.

The cf-18 genuinely scared the shit out of me, too. It did a really surprising quick, low pass...

The conceptual art for next year’s magic the gathering sets are quite exciting. Looking forward to weird sea creatures and giant Monsters. One concept was clearly inspired by red king which was cute. I’m assuming ikoria will come with more Godzilla stuff again.

I also found out about a gallery I could contribute to pretty late, but I’m still going to attempt to make something, do an label and mail it before the deadline. I have about three weeks to do everything- then I have to jump right back into my...
