been playing a lot of Ultrakill recently, might consider it actually one of the greatest games oat
the soundtrack by Heaven Pierce Her is phenomenal, the gameplay is exhilarating (it's like crack to me), the weapons are satisfying to use and the arsenal is big and varied while not being excessive, the enemies are great and all feel fun to fight without being too bullet spongey (largely). No moments where you have to wait for an enemy or boss to be vulnerable, either, you just shoot the SOB until they...
New day
After my existential post yesterday (thank you to everybody who shared advice), I woke up with the same emptiness and nothing to do. I've decided to code a bit today, continue a project I've neglected.
For some reason there is a sentence that comes to mind, something like "enjoyment of an activity only comes after the initial novelty fades." Not the exact words, not sure where I've heard it or in what context, but I'll stick to it.
Regarding me...

the secret to cable management, i'm learning, is just that you should stop having cables
Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to introduce my new server from the "Good Enough™" lineup. It was slapped together using literally anything I could scavenge from my cave. The specs: an i5-3570k, 16GB of 1600MHz RAM, a 120GB SATA SSD, and two 480GB SATA SSDs. Powering this beast is a be quiet! System Power 9 600W (80 Plus Bronze Age). Don’t ask about the liquid cooling or the case: they were just lying around, and hey—I’m an artist, this is my vision.
It’s got two extra NICs crammed inside,...
Luck strikes today!
Today my dad came back home with a laptop just for me, it's an old lenovo laptop with some missing keys. Apparently at work they were supposed to get rid of it and my dad offered to take it home. I want to use it but don't know what to do with it, I was thinking of just putting nixos on it and try getting into ricing. but I'm all ears for fun suggestions.
Charming Scarab
Last night a Ten-lined June Beetle landed on me.
And that has made all the difference.
Emptiness
Not to bum anyone out or anything, but what do you do if no matter what you do, all you end up with is feeling empty? Whether it's art, cooking, coding, writing, whatever it is that I do, all I end up with after the fact is a deep sense of emptiness. Maybe I'm depressed, maybe I'm not, labels mean very little either way. What should I do? What is there left to do?
Threaded Heat Inserts vs. MDF
Well, well, well,...
Who would have thought this? I mean... as I said in my last post: Using cheap Drywall Screws for mounting the ARC Controller to my Arcade Cabinets' control panel just seemed... cheap to me. Also I think, that it's not the best way to do it in regards to the blobbed IC on the backside of the PCB.
So I decided to design a simple PCB Mount (yeah... I know... it could have been simple distance sleeves as well (and now that I think of it, I actually have some here...)).
However; it took...

Progress on my DIY Full Sized Arcade Cabinet
Although a lot of family stuff used up most of my spare time today, there is a little progress on my Arcade Cabinet project.
You see, I read a lot about working with MDF boards and there's a lot of tutorials out there. The thing that actually convinced me to invest (a lot of) time into "doing it right", was the fact that this stuff indeed consists of fibers... that actually soak in paint if you let it. And since I plan to coat everything with paint, I didn't want the boards to soak it through and through....
TViT Dev Update 15
Not much to update ya'll on this week. I have a major deadline coming up at my day job, so my free time has been limited lately (and I decided to play Elden Ring again).
- Still working on the starter campaign.
- Still working on enemy mechanics.
- Second session of the digital-only playtest this week.
- Trying to figure out an method of displaying the enemy stat/skill blocks in a way that is both utilitarian as well as visually appealing...
Movie Recommendation: Hereditary (2018)
When it comes to horror movies, I really like the sub-genre of "occult/supernatural horror". Movies like Weapons, Paranormal Activity (first one), The Witch, Bring Her Back, and others.
One of my all time favorites is Hereditary and is one I recommend if you are a fan of the genre.
This is one of those movies where there are a lot of little things going on that you will for...
This short story is feeling more and more pertinent these days.
Koreader
I took a leap and did something I've been very reserved about for a while now. I've installed Koreader on my Kobo. For those that don't know, it's an alternate reading application for e-readers like the Kindle, Kobo, or other e-ink devices. It gets installed as an application on the device, then you open it and it's like opening a whole new operating system.
The default "home screen" is a file browser, which was pretty lackluster if I'm being honest. I was whelmed, but I continued exploring. The actual...
Introduction
Howdy! I'm jDanger most places online, but my friends call me JK. Be forewarned: if you call me JK, that means you're my friend. That's the rule.
I currently live in Chicago, I'm in my 30s, and I work with animals. I think that's a good amount of info without doxxing myself. I'm train-pilled and love walking places, but I also love being lazy and playing video games. I'm an amateur writer, avid doodler, lego-fidgeter, and general idiot. I have a cat, who is now old but used to be a kitten. She's my WSO...
Interesting vid on AI Companions by Georg Rockall-Schmidt
I've followed Georg for aages and I really like his view on things. It feels pretty real but also with research and less emotional outrage.
Anyway, the topic of the video is really interesting and definitely a modern problem that is slowly and quietly growing in the younger generations. I used Replika a little when it first came out, and Im really shocked in the direction the app once made...
glomble
I didn't know how to write this so I'll be straightforward.
There's this video sharing website called Glomble and I wanted to show it to y'all because I think it's cool (and I share my Kasane Teto covers there)
