Whimsical Log 05/10/26
I've been toiling away into the late hours, adding more and more boilerplate to Whimsical, and it's turning out really well I would say... But we won't really know how things are until we're actually rendering something to the screen.
Setting small goals has been a good and fruitful practice I feel. It's a way for me to measure my progress in a way.. I just need to document it. I guess I'm going to have to make a trello board.
I'm still in the process of setting up the entire render loop. I've just...

Today was a long day, had to work some overtime. My initial plan today was to do a lot on Whimsical, but a little is enough. After the last log I left some hanging resource. I cleaned those up, did a small refactor, and checked that there were no memory leaks(there were none).
I also updated the build system a little, so that the mac build is pretty much identical to the linux build.
Hope that you the reader had a good day, or that you will have a good day.

It feels like it's been taking me ages to sit down and to start writing the code, that needs to be written. It's not even too complicated. But that being said I've still done something...
I've implemented support for;

- renderpasses
- descriptor set layouts
A lot of my time has been spent finalising the YAML config boilerplate jargon, working, avoiding burn out, and reading up on cool C features. This time it was on how C handles shared_ptr's. All very handy dandy stuff and I would...

Yaml... Yaml.. Yaml. I've been working on decoding Node objects coming from yaml-cpp. Nothing too exciting, a lot of boiler plate.. I appreciate the idea of being able to generate the boiler plate, but I don't want to do that. This is my project, and too often in my life have I decided to take the easy route.
The road does feel long, but it is a road that I love. There is something satisfying with making your own game engine, I've made similar systems a couple of times before too. You reach a point where...
