Astralixi Star Map App Dev Update
I have been working on a Star Maps app for Astralixi, and I have everything ready, just the circle for the Star Map is not filled in. It's actually so tedious, and I haven't even started yet, as from the image, I have to copy in the inner stars for each hemisphere, where "O" is large stars, "o" is medium stars and "*" is small stars.
This is going to take a while.
Also if you have any app name ideas, it would be greatly appreciated, currently my best idea is "Star*...
Join the Space Guild
If you have any interest in space/rockets (including sci-fi), the space guild is the right place for you.
We are very welcoming, and with 9 members currently, we are looking for more, so we can enjoy a closely knit community with similar interests.
Only join if you do have some interest in space/rockets, to keep the guilds of cyberspace structured properly.
Thanks.
Making a star map TUI app, using my API is hard, but I will make it work...

Just finished recording the podcast with Khan. Will probably be my longest podcast yet (~1 hour long) stay tuned for it, will be releasing in exactly a week from now (hopefully)
Today, I've been working on a Star Maps Viewer app for Astralixi.
For the first version of the app it will only show stars on the map, with no constellations or star details. Just the basics.
I still have a lot to code for this app, and 7 more apps after that as well as app packaging and running logic.
For Astralixi, which is my user-space I am making, I want to do something for apps.
The idea is that, people submit their app to my github repository as a .py, using the API, then I manually check all of them, and the ones that pass the checks, get packaged into a .axapp. The only issue is, how will the axapp get compressed in a way that is still run-able by only Astralixi?
I'm doing it this way; as letting users use whatever app from whatever source, gives off a major security risk, and plus my...
So for my OS, I want to verify apps individually, and package them from .py to a custom file format that can't easily be converted into unless a custom script used.
How could I do this? I don't want to just rename a zip or something. I want it to be run-able using CPython, while it not just being a re-named file extension.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
So someone on the clockworkpi forums tested Astralixi OS image on my behalf. It just booted into pi os lite, with nothing to do with Astralixi OS. So I have updated instructions on my github which I will use later today: https://github.com/Astroxia/AstralixiOS/builds
I hope it will work. My code works as a binary alone, but when compiled with the kernel into the .img, in the last 5 attempts it hasn't worked.

Astralixi OS build is in progress. This is the moment of truth.
This is my 4th build attempt for the pre-release, and if this works, I will release "Astralixi OS Pre-release".
I am hoping. Wish me luck, will hopefully remember to post an update, with how it goes.
Today I will plan out, how I will build Astralixi OS, like I have a kernel file, with overlays folder, my user-space binary, and a credentials file.
Somehow I need to package it together into a .img for ARM 64 bit, raspberrypi CM4 (more devices in future versions) in a way that all components work as they are meant to.
At least I have one thing to look forward to. It’s Friday Today!
My OS I'm working on, is Astralixi OS.
Right now, for the pre-release, I will use the linux kernel, but I was wondering if I could write a custom kernel in Python that works completely with linux drivers.
You must be confused as Python is interpreted, not compiled, but I'm using Nuitka which can compile any Python standard library code into a binary.
So would it be possible in python? I don't care if it will be a little tedious, I just don't want my OS to be "just another linux distro" in the...
I have released my API for my upcoming space-enthusiast-focused OS, so that people can make apps.
It can be found here.
I'm thinking of what 8 basic apps I can have built-in to Astralixi OS for the first main release later on. Code editor, space news fetcher, etc, got any ideas?
Hello all!
I am trying to learn hacking, but the type of hacking where you find a bunch of old/UN-documented devices, and reprogram them to your desire.
I have found not much luck with finding good learning resources for this matter, and I was hoping someone of this community would know something that could help me, or at least guide me in the right direction.
Thanks.
