homelab stuff that makes you feel dumb? well it might make you feel smart and me feel dumb i guess..

for months i've been struggling with insane i/o spikes on my media server. regularly hitting like 90% delay, mounts breaking, etc.

i was sure it was just the hdd (certainly contributes at times), but i had finally decided i would do the annoying work of grabbing an ssd and moving proxmox. i moved all my files out of the internal volume (which i also assumed had contributed) and when reviewing my configs for transfer, i had made it so that the flaresolverr logs were...well being logged. rather than using the recommended tmpfs. just barely caught it honestly.

19GB / 1GB

when i first started, i remember thinking something like "this makes sense, i need to have logs!" and not once did i even check them. i made a post awhile back about actually reading instructions and friction and whatever; last night i was reminded of how silly i had been when first starting, and it's a miracle that i'm even able to use this thing as i do lollll

embarrassing admission of course, but maybe if you're experiencing this, take a look at your configs !! onto the next project i suppose: fix everything i fucked up the first time.
