Has anyone had any luck with repurposing laptop parts for a cyberdeck? I'd love a smaller cyberdeck, so my first idea was to use a Raspberry Pi. Turns out, a Pi with 4GB of ram is way more than what I'm willing to pay- I might as well use the money to buy an actual laptop.

My next idea was to sacrifice the small size and buy a broken laptop off eBay to use for parts. Ideally, I'd like to make the daughter board horizontal so I can fit it into one of those hard plastic waterproof cases without it being super wide. Has anyone had any luck with doing that, or knows how feasible it is?

Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
