Hello all, I’m attempting to transition from through-hole perfboard circuit boards to my first smd pcb. Does anyone have any tips for getting started? I’ve started a project on kicad but I’m open to trying something different.

Does anybody else have any implanted goodies? I have a rather old Dangerous Things chip in my hand that I want to upgrade but of course this means a minor surgery to first find it and then take it out. How does one find a doctor to do this? Should I pretended I don't know how it got there for fun?
Does anyone have experience with Orange Pi or other SBCs? I'm looking for something in the class of an 8gb pi 5 for an upcoming build. Open to trying something new.
