Movie Recommendation: Hereditary (2018)

When it comes to horror movies, I really like the sub-genre of "occult/supernatural horror". Movies like Weapons, Paranormal Activity (first one), The Witch, Bring Her Back, and others.

One of my all time favorites is Hereditary and is one I recommend if you are a fan of the genre.

This is one of those movies where there are a lot of little things going on that you will for sure miss on the first watch through. Afterwards, doing a web search about the movie is highly recommended. The lore of the movie (has some historical references), imagery, symbolism, and one scene where something is hidden and you can't see it unless you pause and turn up the contrast of your television is just so good. The acting, the characters, the dark ambience and stirring of various emotions was just so well done. All the actors did a stellar job, but Toni Collette (the mother) was exceptional (she won several best actress awards in this particular role).
