I'm a late night fast food manager. Here how my day usually goes:

arrive at 10:00pm to a filthy store. It's dirty because evening shift is all teenagers who don't give a fuck (not that I blame them necessarily) and cleaning is "night shift's job"

everyone leaves except my 3 trusty late night warriors. (Evening shift averages 20 people per shift)

we do 6k (USD) in sales because we're the only 24h location in town

store is still dirty because my team didnt have time to do anything other than serve customers

get chewed out by GM who usually works mornings.

ask GM for more late night employees.

she says no, tells me to stop "making excuses" and to "do better"

Leave at 8:00am after spending two hours being morning shift's manservant.

Sounds great right? I can't even leave because this is one of the highest paying jobs in town. I make 2400 a month, or around 29k a year. Less than half the median wage in the US. Without relocating to the city (which I can't afford) there are no jobs I can take that wouldn't be a huge pay cut.

Anyway. I've just been informed that my GM is really happy with my performance (what the fuck) and is selecting me for further training, since I dont actually do any office manager things I just keep the store from exploding over night.

The GM is going to be training me personally from the hours of 10am to 8pm the first day of my work week. The following day I am expected to work 10pm to 8am.

Is this some sort of sick joke? When the fuck am I supposed to sleep? I have to invert my sleeping schedule on my days off so she can show me office shit that I don't even do on late nights and then I have to pull an all nighter so I can sleep during the day and be rested for the next night?

I think my GM is trying to kill me, or god is punishing me for some nebulous sin I committed against him or something.

I'm happy to be alive (not sarcasm). I love my co workers. I even like my job and all my weirdo late night regulars. I cannot wait to get the FUCK out of here. My GM should die in a hole. Thank you for reading.
