I have started to keep a physical journal of sorts chronicling when I start and finish video games in an attempt to make a more deliberate and organized assault on my incomprehensibly large backlog. Here is a transcription of the first entry.

Game finished: DOOM 3 (physical, PS3)

I thought people didn't like DOOM 3 because it was nothing like the other DOOM games. Turns out people don't like it because it is bad. I ended up not completing the game, making it about halfway through the surprisingly large quantity of levels. The levels were definitely designed competently, even if they were visually repetitive and mechanically unimaginative, though the the game has an unfortunate penchant for spawning enemies behind the player in rooms that were already cleared. Violent screen shake upon taking damage makes every enemy annoying to fight, and the guns all feel horrible. The shotgun and machine gun in particular are truly awful.
