[3] The Price

Since 2020, I’ve been working on the same game, and the things I’ve had to sacrifice along the way are things that can’t be bought like friendships and family relationships. It’s very hard for people to understand what it truly takes to make a game from start to finish, especially when you’re trying to create something meaningful.

Not to mention the things I’ve been through, like losses. My great-grandmother, my grandfather, my fish Carlos, money, jobs… and let’s not even talk about the stress that comes from things you can’t control or the environment you live in. Like that time my dog got so sick that I couldn’t think about anything else. I thought I was going to lose him. He was 14 years old back then — now he’s turning 16 and still runs around like a puppy.

I say all this because no matter what life puts in front of us, we have to keep going with what we’re doing. The moment you give up is when you truly lose. Failing is something you can fix and try again, but surrendering means letting your dream be destroyed. Still, sometimes it’s hard to accept that you have to put aside fun moments for a greater purpose.

And I know I won’t rest until my game is complete. No matter how I feel, no matter what I have to do to achieve it. When my final moments come, I’ll look back, see my creation finished, see the people who enjoyed it… and I’ll feel complete.
