[ESC]Project Detox Day 2
It was a good day yesterday, aside from finding out I didn't win the hackathon I had entered. That was a bummer.
The detox is going well. I see a lot of folks talking about the latest in The Discourse and I don't feel the need to be involved. I'm getting a lot done, and have a lot of quieter/calmer moments I can focus more on.
Did BJJ + gym last night, and slept like garbage, so I'm worn out. I am doing better than I'd be doing if I got crollcaptured.
Trace Hunter Labs work has gone well. I'll have an update to that coming at the end of the day.
For my worldbuilding project, I've found that I work really well writing out parts of a narrative story, then going back and filling out Wiki articles about parts of the story. I'm writing a kind of novella about a poor boy living in a fishing village with a mother who has cybernetic eyes and was part of the warrior class before she ended up a slave woman on a fishing planet. They end up being 2 of the 27 survivors of The First Planetary Massacre when Netspawn come out of my universe's equivalent to Warhammer 40k's Warp/Immatereum. So I'll write a couple hundred words of story, then go back and fill in details about the planet, the fish that they export, the Netspawn, the warrior class that the mother came from, etc. Then I'll repeat.
I've found this approach really helps, because I can ground the setting and timeline in a real story, and then ground the story in the setting and timeline, focusing back and forth on either one. It lets me tweak one or the other when something just doesn't fit right.
Anyways. Off to work.
