i’m happy to report, it has now been 4 weeks since i last used reddit or any service with an algorithm that traps you into scrolling. i feel very accomplished and my relationship with my parents is healing from it
companies that sell domains are way too shady at times tbh, just paid $1.86 for a .online and it said it’d be 2.86 after that but that was a lie, it actually will be $35 a year which is more than a .com from cloudflare… that comes out to $10 a year which is so much better
i ordered the 20u rack, screws and the power outlets for now. when i get those in i will reroute all the network cables to it which is across the basement and then setup my main router on the rack with my big server on the rack, gotta move the mini fridge or i’ll trip the breaker.
waiting to install proxmox or anything else due to wanting to be on static ip address but can’t get close enough to the router without the rack setup
still progress is progress.
time to drive to hockey and get stoned...
got my new server and did some more research.
It is a Dell Poweredge R620 and it has currently 4 SSD’s not very big ~180gb each.
I currently got linux ubuntu server on it, but will be swapping over to ProxMox today and i’ll be redoing my network soon to move things around in my basement to fit the rack im gonna buy for this. i’m also gonna get a rack switch to mount and also a power strip as well. i don’t plan on buy a UPS because i’m not running anything worth upkeeping at the moment but who knows...
i really hope brandon sanderson is able to make his small novella snapshot into a movie it would be a perfect movie
LETS GO PENS
i got to watch the game in the best seats we have ever had, i pulled out my phone once the whole game to snap this pic (very proud of myself i find myself isolating on it too much). PENS WIN, we got to see the game winner right in front of us and it was a crazy bounce
yesterday was pretty much the perfect day.
went to work and actually had tons of repairs which is great because it makes the day go by so much faster and i had no appointments with any of the employees.
then after work my fiancé and i took the dog to the pond (still haven’t thought of a cool name for it) and spent a few hours there playing cards and cooking steaks up yum.
i then changed the oil to my beauty of a little prius and i’m getting better at oil changes cause this time it only took 40 minutes...
today marks four years since my best friend was killed in a drunk driver accident. just gotta get through the day
