I'm a bit confused after hanging out and talking with other local photographers, I was wondering if anyone here has anything to share on this topic/question so here goes:

Why do people ask what type of photographer you are and only offer such a narrow field? Like the expected reply is architectural, nature, street etc. but only 1 of those, mentioning more than 1 is seen as weird.

Back in the day I remember things being a bit more loose and less about just one category.
Personally I just make art with what I take pictures of and that art is whatever I have the inspiration for at the time, but I can't just say "art photographer".

I do also have to note that different styles of photography do require different knowledge, techniques and settings to capture them but I've never really found this to be much of an obstacle unless it's something very specific and you need super expensive equipment to capture it in such a way (price and resources are the only real barriers I can think of in photography).

I guess that's my little tangent, also even if you got the money for modern cameras; just buy an older DLSR, I feel like you'll learn a lot more with them!

Also I haven't posted in a little while so hello, how are you?
