Dragon prices skyrocket as the N3C cracks down on illegal dragon trafficking!

By: Cassian Thorne

Earlier this week a policy was passed to allow the N3C (National Creature Care Committee) to start searching for and raiding illegal dragon smuggling stops. Teams of mages, sorcerers and alchemists have been appointed as Dragon Smuggling Search Teams, or DSSTs for short, to go looking for these highly illegal yet profitable businesses. What prompted this policy was on Jun 3, 2026 a massive stockpile of unregistered dragon eggs were found buried in an old warehouse in the town of Awndale. This sparked outrage in the legal dragon community because dragons are of very high intelligence, seemingly sentient, nonverbal creatures that are capable of telling people apart, and groups of dragon tamers, riders, and breeders brought the issue to the N3C, promoting a quick meeting and bill to be made.

In addition to the searching for and raiding of dragon smuggling stops, DSSTs have been allowed to search, with reasonable suspicion, anyone entering the kingdom of Luitannia where the initial incident happened.

Awndale has set up searches coming in and out of the city, and a creature handling, transport, or breeding licence must be presented if trying to enter or exit with creatures. The N3C is doing all that they can to bring our dragons back.

And now, an exclusive interview with the goblin who found the dragon stockpile, Gellert Greentoe!

Cassian: "Hello, welcome to Mystical, Magical, and Mundane. I'm Cassian Thorne your interviewer. Go ahead and introduce yourself and why you are here."

Gellert: "Mornin'. I'm Gellert Greentoe. I live in Awndale, I work in Awndale, and I'm here 'cause I finded a bunch o' illegal dragon eggs.

Cassian: "And what do you do for work?"

Gellert: "No comment."

Cassian: "Okay... So, where were you when you stumbled on this warehouse?"

Gellert: "There I was, standin' there, and I sees two shady looking fellers walkin' into an abandoned warehouse, th' one down by street 17, y'know. And me bein' the upperstandin' citizen I am, followed them two in there. They opened a door, and there I sees it."

Cassian: "Saw what?"

Gellert: "A big ol' pile o' dragon eggs, that's what them's were. Red uns', Blue uns', Green uns'.

Cassian: "And how were you able to tell this was an illegal operation?"

Gellert: "Well, the warehouse was abandoned, no official lookin' anybody anywhere, and them dragon egg storage crates were not up to snuff by my reckonin'."

Cassian: "So what did you do?"

Gellert: "I turns around, real quiet like, headin' fer the door. Seein' some keys hangin' on a hook, I makes a mold of em with my mold maker I keeps on me. After makin' the mold I leave and go find some city peoples to tell and lead em' back to the warehouse. I stops at the smithy on me way back to the warehouse for some metal to make a key, that takes a minute and then we're back at the warehouse, where I lets the city people in and they use them magic wands to call more city people fore' the whole place was covered in em'. I took that as my cue to leave and headed home for the night."

Cassian: "And without that key mold there would have been no way for you to enter the building right? Would you be willing to share why you had the key mold on your person?

Gellert: "No comment."

Cassian: "Okay, thanks for your time Mr. Greentoe. Stay safe out there."

So, the hero of today's story. Just an average goblin working in the town of Awndale, saving hundreds of dragons from being illegally trafficked. Gellert Greentoe, Many thanks to you on the behalf of the dragon lovers around the world, N3C, and everyone else.
