tetratronic rippler (mk. 0)

dropping in to share the first steps of a hopeful build! some might have seen this on reddit previously, where i’ve made a post or two to log the build.

found a busted adding machine at a local thrift shop and spent the last year debating on hardware to make it an effective deck. current iteration runs on:

  • a pi 5 8gb
  • a waveshare 6.25” (720x1560) display
  • a budget ergonomic mouse
  • (bluetooth) rkf68 keyboard
  • wired power supply

next move is to invest in a ups board and active cooler, as my power bank plans were foiled by an inaccurate listing. also awaiting an mnt reform trackball module to serve as the mouse. once that’s working, i plan on using a pair of macro pads (12 key and 4 key) to cover on-the-go typing and set up a proper i/o solution with a small usb hub. then it’s all hands-on work to cover gaps, route cables, add mesh for ventilation, and fix up a folding bezel/lid for the display.

last step? stickers and mox livery paint job. it’ll be a long journey but i’ve not gotten to learn through doing (and more importantly, failing) in so long. very excited!
