Shape yourself, shape your life?

Do you think that there is some sort of connection between how somebody presents themselves to the world and how their day to day feels?

For example, if somebody lives in their PJs, never takes a haircut, never shaves and never dresses up nicely, their day to day and life in general will be uneventful, boring and dull. On the other end if somebody dresses up in the morning, cleans themselves up, actively tries to be presentable and aesthetic, will their life and day to day feel any different?

Of course one can argue that a dull and uneventful life leads to the former behaviour, which is a valid argument. But I am trying to think about whether it also works the other way around.

This question is based on a long discussion I've had with my wife tonight, and I would love to hear your thoughts about the concept of "shape yourself, shape your life".
