[ESC]More solar panels for the winter
Off grid PC update: bought two more panels when the November sales started. Same ones as the four I already have: 120Wp, about 6A 20V. Changed the configuration from 2s2p to 3s2p: two parallel strings of 3 panels. Needed to think a bit how to connect them so the included cables reach (they sit side by side on my balcony), but managed it without needing to change anything except one Y combiner for a slightly longer one.
My charger is rated for 100V so that's fine even including increased panel voltage in low temperatures. Today was relatively sunny and I already noted 600W peak power, 2.4kWh charged today which is the best result yet since I started (about two months ago). I installed them just before noon so the improvement should be nice.
I'm thinking of upgrading the battery with 8 more cells (I have 8 MB31 EVE cells right now). I'd keep the bank at 24V so the configuration would be 8 pairs of cells in series. It's a pricey thing though and the supplier I was eyeing just ran out of their EU stock... We'll see.
