Looking for advice - Job related

Hello friendly Netwalkers;

I'm throwing out a message to you all to ask for some career advice from total strangers.

Backstory:
I'm a techy who loves messing with computers, electronics and such in my free time.
I'm also a full time English teacher at a University.
As well as, the biggest point, finishing a PhD in Linguistics.

The current state of things:

Currently, I am in a 'life long' contract (in France, our contracts don't expire) so I can keep my current job (and pay) for a long long time.
The field I'm in is getting more and more AI driven (people use it for everything): I dislike AI a lot, if not plain hate the effect it is having on people's brains. Old tech is better.

Future and questions:
I am strongly considering, once I've finished the PhD (I'm too stubborn to stop in 4th year), quitting my job and becoming an electrician.
The logic is: everyone needs lights on, wants solar panels or a plug for their EV, or something eletric related.
Question: do you think this is a viable idea?
Question 2: if you happen to be in France, any advice on the "how" ?
