[ESC]Hey lost souls ! How are you ? quit a time i come here and write down something. I'm going to talk off the cuff, and I'm sorry if this comes across as a bit abrupt but i need it.
Today i learned that Meta has an AI to predict our brain activity, especially our dopamine area. It can be really helpful for the research and to better understand our brain, to better cure people, but in the hand of meta, i think we all know that it will be used to use us as content-addict zombie, to scroll even more than ever.
The reality i perceive is that is not a lonely case, and many many MANY companies will have (or already have) same AIs, algorithms, etc... to use us as a resource for their wealth and i don't believe them about they "do it for the greater good of humanity". They are companies. Maybe with some values, but still companies which exist only for profit and power, what matter the cost in the end (you will maybe says that Anthrop\c is a counterexample of that, but i feels that is just a posture, to be "different" from the other companies and use our natural empathy to make us choose them, like the "good cop and bad cop" meta, at the end, the two police officer has the same goal).
It's not only AI that affect me, but the general state of internet as a whole. Everything that we used everyday is owned by big tech companies or government, and both won't act in our favor. Mass surveillance, insidious influence, making us against other like us to forget who are in command, identifies us whenever we are, physically or digitally, are just example of they do today. And even the "indie"/"punk"/"nonconformist" web is dependent of big tech comp, maybe not in the software itself but on the hardware and the infrastructure around (like github, amazon server, or maybe just as if you want to exist on the web, you have to be chrome compliant). Moreover, how little we are on this "better alternatives" ? few millions ? Billions ? not enough big to do something on a planetary scale. And in the event that we are enough, we are fragmented across little platforms, at each corner.
I seems that we can't do anything to stop this. I am young (i think ^-^) and i don't want to live without one of the greatest invention of humanity, because it was as first a place to discover and discuss (for real) with a lot of human. But i don't want also become a gear of a monstrous machinery which devour everything it use. I don't want that future generation will be the good soldier of some companies nor government, brainwashed and dependent of a thing we already are. Times for humanism is revoked for good now.
The only thing i see to solve this, is, and i don't like it, to blow everything to fck up. It highly risky, and can to the extreme opposite and reinforce the position of the big, but until we don't have a proper way to fck them and decentralized properly the net grid and make a vast majority of people to adopt it, in a short lapse of time, it's the only thing that seems feasible. Unfortunately, i don't have enough courage to do one of the thing i says, i am prisoner of that, and that hurt. Happy are the blind.
Finally, i can say, for the better or the worst : "The net is dead, long live to the net !"
thanks to listening a mad in his bedroom.
