Evidence that

I have experienced suffering
My entire existence
And throughout my years
I’ve learned that different calibers of suffering
Exist
Just as I do

Taking a tumble on my bike
At 7 years old
Putting band-aids on my own
Skinned knees
As my parents scream that weird word again
Foreclosure

The pain of heartbreak
Ripping away at both souls
As each existance can no longer meet one another
Because both know it brings more suffering
Than either can handle

A kind of suffering
Otherworldy
Oh how it changes even the simplest things
I can never look at
belts and door knobs
The same way ever again

And yet, through this suffering
Of learning the calibers of suffering
Through the gnashing of teeth
And elbow grease
As the lines blur between
Ignorance
Innocence
And just being a kid

I exist
