ENTRY
[ESC]Last night angine de poitrine played in my city and I completely missed out on them not realizing they were here, so I hope I can catch them again in the future.
On the flipside I’m lucky enough to catch evil dead:burn at an early showing tonight, so I’ll be leaving a review for that.
Spoilers ahead!
Evil dead: burn, first off, is a lot more intense, mean and aggressive than most of the others. The actor who played the father was really well casted. He was a really scary guy! He looked great both alive and undead.
Most of the characters were quite unlikeable people (by choice!) and personally I really appreciated that. It just makes the movie more interesting to me. The family trauma message was pretty heavy handed, but it sort of worked in such an over-the-top movie anyways. Obviously there’s lots of violence that made me squirm. The car headrest was the most creative imo, there’s also a quick scene of some sluffing skin in the mud which I thought was very nice.
A couple scenes were extremely intricate and well done. One single-take sequence(?) with the protagonist on the ground as the deadites brutalize the family was probably the most memorable to me, along with a really quick scene during a brawl with a crazy mirror-switch. The cinematography otherwise was very, very nice to look at. That was worth the ticket alone.
Along with evil dead: rise, this movie ends with a much more “monstrous” deadite which is something I’m pretty excited for, too!
All in all, I continue to be more of a fan of these modern films than the originals (which are classics, of course)… Looking forward to evil dead: wrath!
