Setting Up Homer for my Home Lab. It's all yaml configured, and I was thinking about it a bit. One of the main reasons I've not delved too deep into self hosted services, beyond what I have now, is that a lot of the services are like this. They use yaml or json to do more than hold configuration data.
Like, I get it, you want to structure the setup and operational parameters. But every single item on a page is a block of yaml? Really?
Of course there's part of me that gives the benefit of the doubt and realize that not every hobby or independent developer has the time, skill, or resources to code in forms and dynamic input for your idea/application.
But I see the difference between like Heimdall, which has an entire interface (though lacks the ability to add content other than links to services), and Homer. I chose homer because I wanted home lab links to services. But I also wanted to be able to add content blocks for no nonsense news feeds.
I guess we make a tradeoff.
