"Idea" - "A thought, opinion, mental image, or plan that forms in the mind as a result of thinking, understanding, or sensing."
"Ideology" - "A systematic set of ideas, values, beliefs, and theories that shapes how an individual, group, or culture perceives, interprets, and acts within the social, political, and economic world."
"Identity" - "Who a person is, including the unique qualities, beliefs, personality traits, name, and background that separate them from others."
"Echo Chamber" - "A situation or environment where a person only encounters information, opinions, or beliefs that repeat and reinforce what they already think."
One of the seemingly greatest societal dangers of our time is this ever prevalent movement of individuals from an idea, to an ideology, then eventually an identity.
Oftentimes kept there by an echo chamber of ideas, whether from our social platforms, peer groups, or family. We hear what we want, rarely what we need, and are led to villainize those that think different.
We see individuals harming others for different spiritual or political beliefs. Mob mentality taking over causing mass destruction and harm. And we are left with this terrifyingly disparate remnant of a society we once knew.
May we, dear fellow traversers of this confusing existence continue to be willing to grow, learn, and fail. Individually and together as one.
