story time; letting agencies.

so i’ve been stressing for 2 months because i start university in september, and i’m currently the other side of the UK from it renting with an agency. so we travelled over to see family and also view houses and we meet all the criteria to rent with no problem (partners income is way past the minimum, we have previous good history with paying on time etc) until our letting agency gave us a bad reference saying they wouldn’t rent to us again which we knew was false but it basically messed up getting a lovely place we had been trying to get! we spent 2 months trying to get them to change it, since we know the manager of the whole branch had a grudge against us because we asked to reschedule ONE THING!!! anyways we took it to the director of the company and we heard back that they found him to be holding personal grudges with no evidence and we had evidence we had done nothing wrong in general and legally so the director said hed be handling our reference by giving us a good one going forward and compensating us and the guy who tried to fuck us over is gonna have his position reviewed for this. i’ve lost sleep over this because the question of would you rent to them again sure can be opinion based but it needs some kind of evidence. an old petty man tried to ruin our lives because that reference would’ve prevented us from finding a place and we have until the end of august to find one. today we found an amazing place, perfect for us and we’re now in the contract stage due to be moved in by the end of the month as planned. life has done a 180 in a good directions and i feel my cortisol at an all time low. thank fuck! anyways that’s why i haven’t been around lol.
