My Gameboy Repair

Just finished my first Gameboy repair video. Took absolutely forever to edit and I filmed it in portrait like a dummy.

Either way let me know what y'all think. It was pretty fun to make and I was able to revive a sentimental object for a close friend.

Any Cybes at this Noah Kahan concert in Cincinnati?

Evidently GB studio has a 16Kb script size limit? Wack. Worst part is that it just forced me to rewrite everything but not in a way that's absolute dog ass.

Anyways I managed to shrink 22,000 edits to like 150.

Moving day!

Alright y'all, I'm leaving right now to head to CT. Moving 14 hours away. Goodbye Appalachia, till we meet again. Thank you for loving and keeping me from worry and woe.

Ah shit, I'm an asshole. I made the Game Dev guild thinking it hadn't been done. Evidently I'm blind and didn't see that one was made like 2 months ago. My bad y'all

8 Track Tapes for program data storage

I'm a bit obsessed with analog media storage. So today I was wondering if anyone had made a way to load small programs or text files off of 8 track tapes. I haven't found anything so I think I might make my own here soon. I know it's not practical, useful, elegant. But sometimes you just mess around with what you like for the joy of it. Its also my understanding that some of the code on the Voyager is on an 8 track that has lasted for 50 years while in loop.

If anyone has worked or attempted something...

New post on my website/blog about a GB Cart repair! Forgive the double image I'll update the thumbnail when my friend sends a pic of the front of the cart tomorrow. Will update the post after the full repair is completed.

Rip to a real one

Today marks 10 years since we diverged from the Good Timeline™. RIP to the spirit that kept the devils at bay.

Just went outside and enjoyed the sun a bit. What is everyone doing today? Especially if it brought you joy.

So the installed version of MS-DOS 5.0 on my IBM 5160 doesn't have the basic interpretator, in fact it doesn't have much of anything except COMMAND.COM and even that is stripped down. Like fkn EDIT doesn't even exist I had to make new files with COPY CON.

Anyways I'm ordering a Greaseweazal so that I can plug it into my appleII drive 1 and then to my pc to actually do the full MS-DOS 5.0 install.

Curious if anyone knows of any leads on how to get a cassette interface card for it or maybe an FOSS...

Made a live ASCIIQuarium picture frame today after seeing one on UCONNs campus on a tv. It is sick as hell.

Shot in the dark, anyone have any resources about converting VGA into a CGA or MDA even if it's just monochrome or only a set amount of ascii characters?

Health update. Just got back from doc that gave me an ultrasound on my face to check out this lump. And they didn't do a biopsy? They just did the ultrasound and told me to wait another handful of weeks. Oh and charged me $300. This place sucks dude.

YALL, I just scored a working Amber CRT and an working IBM 5160 for less than 100$

I have never been more stoked.

Work continues on the dungeon generator. Found some issues with my collision algo and found a better one for my needs that I'm trying to implement. Should be pretty straightforward. I'm having a blast making it.

Also in other news, my partner just got her dream job across country. On too of that she's graduating her masters in a week. Looks like we are moving in little over a month. Very exciting. So proud of her.

Ok been working on this dungeon generator and found a really good article about how to make it look more organic. Randomly place rooms, assign those a region, iterate a maze in every free space adjacent the rooms, punch either one or multiple holes into the rooms to join the regions, then get rid of every dead ends.

Problem is I'm a psychopath and stubborn, so I want to do things the hard way. I am doing this trying to avoid objects and just use scripting. And also I want to deviate from the article...

As I wait here for my surgery tomorrow morning I've been working on a little project that generates PNG images of randomly generated dungeons in the 8x8 tile format to make gameboy dungeon crawler templates.

It had been fun generating things that write pixel by pixel, it's the first time I've ever tried to make an image file from scratch. Though I do plan to cheat a bit. I'm making bitmap files rn and plan on using a library to convert it to png. Or at least to export it as so. Also for fun after its...
