Cam caught a glimpse of Victoria Harbour and the far side of the city—at night, when it rained but had not yet poured, without hollow tips and talons, when it rained but had not yet poured… the distant lights refracting off water droplets and slightly fogged glass of the Jag, a sight that never got old for him—the cliché comparison that clicked into place was Night City from Cyberpunk 2077, except instead of being confined to 1080p on a laptop screen, it was always within peripheral vision yet never quite shedding that other, older feeling: that the harbour was a vast magnet, a colossal tourist fixture that he and plenty of others had never managed to leave behind. And further out, Thai and his mother Thuy materialised to the forefront of his mind, yoinked clean out of his subconscious. It happened fast—rather than blaming himself for something he had long since clocked as a predicament, that only he could make considerably worse—violence and cojones but an empty head being the wrong requirements for the job, he was letting people like Kinky and Sriyani take charge, both of them far better connected, though he could not shake the sense that it amounted to a conflict of interest—Thai and Cameron had traditionally kept their problems well away from their parents. That said, the moment a call would come in from Kinky about Thai and Thuy, the likelihood was that Khien would want in too, a man who had been largely quiet on the situation up to that point, which struck Cameron as unusual—though he was not naive enough to think Khien was being stupid about it, illicit gun owner that he was, fully aware of how not to get caught by the constabulary or anyone wanting to erase the Huynh family tree.

TL-DR: Could’ve been worse, Cameron could’ve had ties to the Israeli government.
