Just finished Blade Runner 2049 for the first time.

Thoughts on the original can be found here for those curious-https://cyberspace.online/blackhand87/blog/omg-just-finished-up-blade-runner-for-the-first-time

It really is a miracle I haven't seen these movies sooner. It was absolutely amazing and I loved every second, just like the first one.

The story- I loved how the replicants were treated as something capable of being more than what they were 'programed' for. Like the original there's that desperation to be human. Although now it's not for the lifespan, but the freedom to simply live a life.

And then there's the question the film asks- in a world with replicated humans, what's the difference between us and them?

In my opinion, the only important difference is origin, as they've been shown to be capable of being human. Having human thoughts, feeling, wants and desires.

Aesthetics- just like the first movie it was so visually stunning. The world felt lived in, like it really had its own culture. The advertising was really cool, it's always been one of my favorite parts of the genre. Also Ana de armas was hot, that was cool.

The color grading was really nice too, when it wasn't primarily grey, it was so vibrant and colorful, but even then, when it was all grey, it was still appealing.
