Dilema

I've run into a brick wall. Metaphorically speaking of course, only my ego hurts, not my face. Since I've recently built a new PC, my old one has been relegated to a sort-of home theater PC. It's attached to my TV, still has a mouse and keyboard, and was still running my original Arch build with Niri as my Window Manager. I was hoping to switch to something that wouldn't require updates as often and had more controller/remote support, and figured I'd give Bazzite and Nobara a try. Went for the HTPC versions of both, specifically for the Nvidia drivers since that PC is rocking a 2070. Both installations had horrible screen tearing that nothing could fix.

Now, I'm determined to just make my own SteamOS like interface, with blackjack, and hookers! I'm debating a Fedora based installation, or something Ubuntu/Debian based. Set it up to auto-login in, launch Steam in Big Picture Mode, and then be done with it. I'd still have a "Desktop Mode", since it'd be launched in Big Picture Mode automatically, I'd have full controller support, and with Steam running in the background, that should extend to the rest of the OS.

If anyone has any recommendations on how to tackle this particular issue, I'm all ears. Before, I was using Arch Linux with the Zen Kernel and the Nvidia-Open drivers. I'll probably follow suit with the new installation, whatever that happens to be. I'm leaning towards KDE as the primary desktop environment, mostly because it's not Gnome and should be pretty friendly out of the box.
