we're a week into october, and spooky vibes are in full swing. every year we marathon horror and horror-adjacent films - lightly spooky kid-friendly flicks for family movie night, and more intense late-night viewings for just the adults. so far we've watched: Coraline (my eldest daughter's new favorite movie), Ernest Scared Stupid, Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992), and Fright Night (1985). Next up on the docket for the coming nights: Poltergeist, Lost Boys, The Fog, Fright Night (2011), and Shaun of the Dead. it's a tradition I've come to enjoy, and as a connoisseur of the genre, it's fun exposing my less horror-inclined family to the more intense and spine-tingling side of visual storytelling.
