Tempted to check out the Paul WS Anderson Resident Evil movies

My mental categorising of the guy's work is "Event Horizon, Shopping, and a big pile of shit" but maybe there's more to it. I thought the first one (the only one I've seen) was pretty shit at the time, largely due to the OTT direction and convoluted-yet-stupid story, but now I know more about movies and can appreciate maximalist bullshit direction (and am better at appreciating things for what they are - I no longer despair of The Matrix's videogame bullshit choreography for not being gritty enough, for example), so I might be in for a time. I heard that things get a bit Existenz towards the later installments, so I might even have fun.

After all, it would be very odd if the guy who did Event Horizon never had another good idea
