It's finally time for me to start actually building the thermal evaporator for PVD. Got the stock material like a week ago but have been busy with other stuff. Unfortunately I didn't realize the actual like machining shop is closed so I've gotta make do with what we have in the lab room.

Only bit I'm really not sure about is making flat faces on a the copper rod.... no mills here but maybe I can just file it down or something? So much stuff to do in checks calendar under a week....

(For those who don't know, run a massive current through a Tungsten (or similar) strip in high vacuum with some metal like Silver on top, and the Silver atoms will evaporate off and coat basically anything you want in Silver, this technique more generally is called PVD - Physical Vapour Deposition)
