[ESC]so I was casually tumbling across another corner of internet
mostly to parse pages of relevant information about my newest hobby (cheap for once) of LoRA/Meshtastic radios -fascinating stuff really- when I found out about Burning Mesh, Mesh community network dedicated to the purpose of enabling radio comms across Black Rock City while Burning Man is being hosted and that got me tumbling down a (small, for a change) rabbithole directing me to Burning Man's wikipage.
Now, that wasn't the first time I heard of that annual event, though it was my first time learning that it basically built a temporary city to host itself (which I can understand, just under 90K attendants, that's enough to justify that level of preparation, especially considering it lasts a while and this is already several times the population of small cities) and I knew it attracted people of various fields, often tech related, so it also made sense that they would have some level of communication system in place but they actually have a small group making a custom firmware for meshtastic radios to be flashed on devices if you plan on attending the event.
I eventually got to the wikipage and really just scrolled through it, not because it didn't interest me but because there really was A LOT to read, found myself thinking about how I never attended that kinda multiday artistic/techie event before (mostly due to limited resources to even think about being able to afford going there) but one day, I'd like to go, even if for one day, that definitely sounds like a fun thing to do, even if I don't have much understanding for abstract art, which a lot of it seems to be happening over there.
I am working on a newer revision of my bucketlist, I guess I got a new bulletpoint to file under the "long term".
if any of you got to Burning Man or a similar event, feel free to tell me about your experience there, I'd really like to know more about that kinda stuff tbh
