Quit Reddit

Welp, today I quit Reddit. I I followed all of the communities I was in on my main account, wrote a goodbye post, and logged out. It'll be work for me to get it back to where I was with all of the boards (I hope) if I log in on impulse.

Reddit helped me quit Facebook, as it was much less toxic. But I feel like it's still too angry, too negative, too disconnected from reality in all of the wrong ways. I'm hoping that quitting Reddit will help me come back to a more grounded sense of reality.

This leaves the only social media I still use anymore as YouTube and Cyberspace. I know that YouTube is worse in many ways, but it also has utility which Reddit doesn't have. I still watch some channels which are actually informative, not faux informative. As for Cyberspace, well, this is just a different sort of animal from top to bottom. It's real, it's people talking, and it's not the bullshit people say to get imaginary internet points on social media. I don't think I'll be leaving here anytime soon.

On that note, though, I think I'll try engaging with the indie web. As convenient as getting everything I need or want from one site is, I really feel that Walmart and Amazon show how bad that can go. Is there any directories or website I should use to start looking for places on the indie web?
