[ESC]jrpg devlog of sorts
i tried recreating smt persona 1's battle system and i've always wanted to add gore into a jrpg so i remade the battle system but instead of the enemies vanishing into oblivion, they blow up into gibs and blood splatters across the room
(assets from a flash game called boxhead, the rest are just illustrated from aseprite)
there's still numerous things to code to fully develop this into a full game.
i also stole some code from goldensun html5 and added some gore to it as well.
(assets from me, randomly drew them in aseprite)
i'm not really sure which battle system looks appealing at the moment but i'm more gearing towards the golden sun battlesystem since the game i'm trying to make is a 3/4 top down jrpg
(art assets from megaman sprite game)
i have a bad habit of using existing game art as placeholder for my games that's closer to the one i'm making since i easily lose track of direction whenever i'm knee deep in development. i really need to stop doing this really, it's just a lame excuse i do because i sometimes lack the will to draw any art assets during mid development
right now i'm coding the groundwork for the game which are the npcs, interactables, movement, collisions, cutscenes and hud although i'm thinking of prioritising the ui and dialog first.
that's all there is for now, stay tuned for more updates or maybe not; idk i have a bad habit of quitting game development after that euphoria stops kicking in from finishing a system i meticulously coded for the entire week.
