[ESC]Stereolab
This is one of my favorite bands at the moment, and perhaps it will become an elemental part of my life and my relationship with music for a very, very long time. I want to share my appreciation for this band because I am genuinely convinced that it needs more recognition than it has
For those who don't know this band: It's called Stereolab. An Anglo-French group from the early 90s that appeared with the "Post-rock" movement of that time. It's a Frankenstein of old 60s pop, psychedelia, electronica, krautrock, jazz and bossa nova; lots of groove and experimental rock. It's an accessible band for anyone who wants to investigate experimental music
The thing is, this song is part of my favorite album by them, whose name is "Cobra And Phases Group Play Voltage In The Milky Night" from 1999. It's one of their most experimental albums, and I consider this song to condense the band's sound very well. I genuinely love how it sounds
Indirectly, this band was there during a particularly dark moment, and to this day it still resonates with me. I like them so much that my first and only tattoo is dedicated to them. It's the drawing of "Stunning Debut Album"
I consider music something "holistic." Holistic understood as "much more than the sum of its parts." It doesn't have much to do with esotericism and that kind of stuff, but rather something much bigger and more earthly: sounds that, when they play together, form something more than a song. I still can't really explain it very well, but I understand myself
It's a band whose sound, aesthetics, words and aura deeply attracted me at 17 years old, and that I still listen to today. I don't know many listeners of this band, mostly because where I live, people listen to other things. But if you've never heard them, give them a chance
Thank you for reading me. I hope you like the song as much as I do
