(I didn't write this, but I've certainly lived it.)

Just seen this posted on LinkedIn. 100% Spot On.

"If you don't hear from us in 15 days, consider yourself unsuccessful."

Cowardly. Disrespectful. Indefensible.

And yet somehow it's standard practice across employers and recruiters.

You made them jump through hoops. Three-stage application process. Competency tests. Video interviews. Hours of their time.

Then silence.

Not even a template email. Not even basic courtesy. Nothing.

This isn't about being busy. This is about lazy employers and recruiters hiding behind process. You have an ATS that can send bulk rejections. You have email templates ready to go.

You just can't be bothered.

Meanwhile, your candidates are:

→ Refreshing their inbox obsessively

→ Checking spam folders daily

→ Wondering if they should follow up

→ Second-guessing everything they said

→ Losing confidence with every silent day

You're damaging people's mental health for your convenience.

The power imbalance is the point, isn't it? You hold the cards. You can treat people however you want because they need the job more than you need to be decent.

Except they don't forget.

They remember exactly how you made them feel. They tell their networks. They move to competitors who actually treat people like humans. Your "efficient" recruitment process just became a reputation problem.

What does it say about your organization that you can't manage basic courtesy? If someone invested hours applying for your role, invest 30 seconds telling them no.

Or keep ghosting people and wonder why no one wants to work for you.
