CyberOS 3.7 & Terminal 0.4

  • New terminal lives at terminal.cyberspace.online
  • What's different?
    • Re-written to be stand-alone and more like a full UNIX computer
    • The terminal has moved out of the site and onto its own machine
    • Underneath it is a kernel: processes, pipes, a real filesystem, a real shell.
    • No account required. Guest machines are fully local.
    • login connects to Cyberspace.
    • Shell
      • Pipelines, redirection, globs, &&, $?, history, tab completion, #! scripts.
    • Filesystem
      • ZenFS on OPFS. Your home directory lives in this browser and persists. Nothing is uploaded unless you say so.
    • Programs
      • wasm32-wasi binaries and JS modules run as real processes with argv, stdin, exit codes and ^C.
      • Programs written for the old terminal still run.
      • Full vim
    • Offline Installable as an app. The machine boots with no network.
    • Open source
    • Improved security
    • Plenty of small fixes and changes from the old Terminal
• Misc. UI fixes
• User pages search API restriction
