[ESC]CampaignCodex: A TTRPG Management Website
Hello Cyberspace fam,
I'm reaching out to everyone who happens to stumble across this post for a little help. I have created a website for managing TTRPG games with friends. Yes, another TTRPG game management website has been brought into existence. The website currently has tools for Shadowdark, Nimble RPG, and Mork Borg; three systems I personally love and felt were underrepresented in the digital tooling space.
Here's a rundown of the tools I've built out so far. There's a character creation tool and a campaign management tool where you can organize your sessions and keep track of campaign progress. You can create your own custom monsters and creatures for each supported rule set and save them to their respective Bestiary; great for homebrewers and DMs who love crafting original encounters. Monsters and character sheets can be shared between users, so the whole table can stay on the same page without passing files around. You can also set up a profile card that lets your friends know what games you're interested in and whether you prefer to play as a Player, DM, or both; you can even partially customize how it looks to make it your own.
There's also a combat tracker and encounter creation tool so you can build out fights in advance and run them smoothly at the table. On the DM side of things, there's dedicated DM functionality, an internal mail system called The Raven Post, public chatrooms, and private campaign chatrooms for your group. One of my favorite features is spectator mode; when enabled, it lets people follow the action in real time of your campaign chatroom without jumping into the session and disrupting the flow of the game.
This is obviously a pretty niche thing, and I know a lot of folks already have their own TTRPG tools they like to use. I also understand that not many of you play the specific systems the site supports right now. What I'm asking is that if you have the time, please visit my website, create an account, and poke around. I've had a few friends test things out, and I've been testing things myself as well. Thanks to their feedback, I've been able to fix bugs, enhance the UI, and add small features here and there that make the experience smoother and more enjoyable. Your feedback, good or bad, is genuinely valuable in helping me shape this into something better.
I made this website for myself because I wanted a free, spyware-free toolset for my TTRPG games that isn't constantly shoving ads in my face or asking me to pay a monthly subscription just to use things I already own physically or digitally. The whole site is free to use: no paywall, no subscription tier, just tools. Anyway, if you can take the time to create an account, explore the site, and share your thoughts, I would really appreciate it. Once you're done poking around, if you want, you can easily delete your account by going to the settings page.
Also, for those of you who are into homelab and self-hosting, I am self-hosting the website on a server that I physically run out of my home as part of my homelab. Getting everything up and running properly has been a pretty cool experience in its own right. I'm also looking into containerizing the website for easier deployment and redundancy down the road.
The website is CampaignCodex.net
