[ESC]My Teacher Said I Shouldn't Go To University
When I was in high school, my music teacher sat down with my parents and told them I shouldn’t aim to be a doctor because I was "more suited to manual labour."
Today, I hold a PhD (so, the kind of doctor that makes me useless in a medical emergency, but the title is real!)
In my latest post, "My Teacher Said I Shouldn’t Go To University," I unpack that memory - not just to vent about a decades-old grudge, but to examine the very real, very measurable impact that adult verdicts have on teenage minds. We often treat teacher assessments as objective snapshots of capability, but the research shows they are actually interventions that can write a student’s future.
