[ESC]printf("goodbye, world");
I just woke up from a nap, and in my dream I was scrolling through news feeds on my phone, as I often idly do. In this dream, I came across an article with the headline printf("goodbye, world"); - The Tech Industry's Suicide Note.
The article went on to lament the enshittification of the modern tech world, and the author suggests that there will soon be an impending tech collapse once users reach a collective tipping point. He posits that there will come a certain move from a major tech player that will push the world off the edge and drive people away from "modern" tech completely. It won't be something "important", like tech companies using your data to fund war efforts; it'll be something banal, like a popular video platform charging users to view more than 5 posts a day. While ultimately insignificant on its own, it will impact the younger generations in a way that affects societal change, driving users away from the dark patterns of corpo-controlled platforms.
I wish I could remember the rest of the article. I'd like to write it. :)
