replaced a few lights with hue bulbs. dimmer switch causing a buzz :(
thought, who needs switches? my admittedly poor research and understanding didn't find any switch modules with zigbee buttons but also a permanent feed - perhaps I could have reprogrammed the buttons with HA to keep the feed on? oh well.
let's just bypass the switch and replace with it with a blank panel, and stick the hue buttons onto the panel.
bedroom switch went well - earth into the blank panel, other two wires stuck together with wago connector. feeling confident.
hallway switch. not a dimmer, but who needs switches! this home is smart (its owner, not so much). remove the panel - 6 wires! a pair in each port on the top, one at the bottom, and earth to the panel. what is this madness? a 2-way switch...
abort! put wires back in original position. doesn't work anymore! i need this light :(
unabort? connecting the bottom wire to each pair by jamming said pair into the connector... stripping back more wire to fit easier... nothing working. part of wire disintegrated from age and prior damage.
replace wires back to original positions. admit defeat. accept my dark hallway. breaker back on. light turns on! original switch working again! abscond.
