New around here

Hey I found this site through r/cyberdeck. I’m studying to work in IT after my old job in the US film industry seems to have dried out. I really enjoy messing with old video and synthesizer hardware and computer hardware seemed like the closest jump, so I began studying for the comptia a+ about 2 months ago.

Back then I wasn’t even really sure what ram did, except make your computer go faster if you could afford extra.

I’m a project-based learner, so I decided to delve into some computer projects, and so far I've set up a NAS for my archived video to be streamed by other devices on my home network, built a few PCs out of scrap parts, set up a MeshCore companion and repeater (I’m almost finished with my rooftop solar build!), and set up a SDR for general ham radio listening. I’m currently working on a raspberry pi cyberdeck to interface with my companion node and send out scheduled messages, as well as a second cyberdeck to use as a portable SDR.

My question for you good folks is, do you have any recommendations for breaking into the IT industry beyond getting certs and practicing in my homelab?
