Fallen - a free-verse poem by me

https://avery501.neocities.org/

Carefull

Careful

His plumage is tainted red as is

Don't let his wings bend

Bind them with the rope

We found around his neck

Il stroke his cheek

And watch for any signs of life

But their is none

His perfect features remain still

Emerald eyes

As unseeing as the ones that are new - cut

Its strange

It didn't occur to me

That i may live long enough to see

A true

Fallen angel

Mingle with mildew

A toppled statue in knee high grass

And just as unnatural

Perhaps the pearly gates don't hold a haven

As pure as scripture preach

If scared creatures

Wish to leave it beyond their reach

And let mortal soil

Bear the shape

To their escape

To many a man's supposed prize

What do you think? Would you like me to post more of my poems and short stories?
