[ESC]Got a Neat MP3 player today!
So, I bought it on Amazon (I know stuff on there can be really... meh) but this player is actually pretty cool! Would be way cooler if the ui wasn't .. ah, clunky? I feel like they didn't try hard enough on the ui.. and you can't really see the song names if the file has a long text.
BUT, the build quality of it is good, it's not plasticy or cheap, it's some alloy (probably zinc?) It's very DENSE but still lightweight. It even has a nice headphone jack too (and it's USB-C!)
The product also says something in the menu for mic recording.. and it has the option for (microphone or line-in?).. which is a bit confusing.. since it only has one jack??
Anyways, I haven't tested that but file sharing isn't hard and you can put photos on it too! (Not too useful.. since you can't use the photos as a screensave.. even though it has a screensaver option in the settings menu?.. but it only puts up a clock)
It would be super cool if they let me change the UI or font.. since you can read txt. files.. but the font is this weird serif font that I don't like and it makes it hard to read the song names at a glance :/
sooo, For $35 bucks.. not bad.. though some people (like 3/400+ reviews I saw) got duds.. which either died or the jack was apparently loose? Hopefully mine doesn't do that LOL
Wish they made really bare/bones music players with stuff people actually want on a player. (though if it had a camera.. that'd be really funny .. would be a neat Y2K device .. I swear I could come up with some neat things you could add to this thing.. but then it'd be a mmd or a pda at that point XD)
PROS:
- Has a LOCK switch so you don't accidentally mess with controls while they're in your pocket or something
- Has a nice display and nice buttons!
- Really NICE build quality and color way (I got this orange one!) it even has a lanyard hole:P
- USB-C! (you have an actual option to plug it into a computer and charge while transferring or change + play!)
- has a lot of storage 64G! + you can add an external micro SD card! (up to 128g)
- Battery is GOOD, didn't die right out of the box and lasts a long time (havent really gave it a daily use yet)
- Came with some earbuds.. (not the crummy ones that have those foam covers.. this had the rubber ones).. not great but good in a pinch :O.
- Includes a RADIO setting.. so that's cool! (you can also record music from the radio.. though I imagien it wouldn't sound too great)
CONS:
UI is a bit clunky.. while album covers show.. you can't rename the files in the settings or anything.
Not able to transfer the files on my microSD to the internal storage.. which is a bummer
Not able to change the font or add a background or anything.. which kinda sucks (I just find the UI a bit.. ugly. at least in terms of design)
The back plate is this clear plastic and it gets scratched easy which sucks.. (Might add some stickers to protect it .. might as well :O!)
The built in speaker kinda lacks any OOMF.. just quiet but I imagine they couldn't have fit a larger one.. (besides it drains the battery if you use that option, and I really don't want people to listen to my music anyways.. so not really a downside)
The manual doesn't go in depth on the file-sharing or any specifics in the settings or how to move the files around in the player.. just had to figure that out. (wasn't too hard but for a kid or someone who isn't tech savy.. I imagine they would be a bit sour to use the thing)
Overall neat player! Bought it mainly to have songs I like when the internet goes down one day (kidding) but yeah, sometimes I get bad connection or just don't want to get distracted with my phone (some places don't always have wifi on roadtrips or train rides.. sooo). I give it like 4/5.... hopefully they offer a firmware update.. but since it's a no-name brand, probably not (someone in one of the reviews said they'd add their own bootloader.. but not sure when or who they actually are.. oh well lol)
WiNDY :3
